A hernia is a bulge of tissue through the opening of the abdominal wall muscles. Ventral hernia is affected at the walls of abdomen. When abdominal walls are affected by ventral hernia the abdominal skin becomes thin.
Symptoms of Large Ventral Hernia:
The symptoms may vary from person to person. In some cases the symptoms are not visible. Some patient suffering from the disease go through severe stomach pain. In cases where a patient can’t see a visible symptoms in early stages can see it in later weeks. The common symptoms come with severe stomach pain is, difficulty in standing and walking straight and patient cannot lift objects easily. After some weeks a bulge can be seen through the skin. The visible bulge and thinning of the abdomen skin are the main symptoms of the Large Ventral Hernia. Some common symptoms may also include nausea and vomiting.
Doctor examines a patient’s condition physically. Diagnostic test includes:
- Computerised Tomography (CT) scan
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Ultrasound of the abdomen area
Treatment for Large Ventral Hernia:
Patient has to go for surgery to get the disease properly treated. If hernia is not treated it can grow and can lead to major complications in future. Laparoscopic surgery is done where a surgeon makes small incision a treats the hernia using a small camera inside the abdomen to perform the surgery.
